Arlington Massage and Wellness Center offers a variety of community and fitness classes in our "Big Room." The road to health and wellness most often starts with knowledge. The more you know about your body, the better you can take care of it.

 Monday Night Yoga Flow

with Shanna Ronschke

Yoga class every Monday evening at 7:30pm. Registration is encouraged but not required. Drop-ins welcome!

$12 per class, $40 for a 4 class pass

 

Wednesday Night Meditation Series

with Amy Hosenfeld

A 7 week guide to meditation with instructor Amy Hosenfeld, Wednesdays at 6:00 pm. Next session dates are Wednesdays November 1, 8, 15, 29, December 6, 13, 20, 2017. Please pre-register online. Payment may be submitted at the first class.

$70 for the series.

 This class would pair well with our Wednesday night Beginner Yoga Series, held Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm (same series dates). Please register for these classes separately.

Pilates Plus for Singles or Doubles

with Cecile Smith

Join Cecile for private Pilates sessions designed for an individual or group of two. Sessions will focus on core work, kinetic chain mobilization, building muscle & bone strength, overcoming physical restrictions, reducing pain, and resolving injuries, improving posture, body awareness and self-care  strategies.  No previous experience needed.  Singles or Doubles sessions will allow participants to experience the Pilates machines not available in the class setting.  Online scheduling not available at this time.  Please email or call Cecile at 614-531-9820 or not.mainstream@yahoo.com for a complimentary trial session. 

 

Body Mechanics: The Ultimate Self Care

with Scott Orts, LMT

(tentatively) Sunday January 21, 2018, 9am to 3pm (registration is not yet open)

$50 per person (please register and pay online prior to the class)

This hands on course will help you to adapt your current massage techniques so they are less taxing on your body. In this seminar you will learn basic techniques that will make massage less taxing on your body.

Topics include:

  •    The effect of table height on your massage and how to find an optimal table height.
  •    How to use your body weight instead of your muscles to achieve more consistent results.
  •    How to adjust your body mechanics to your current massage techniques.

**This course does not offer any continuing education credits.  It is the first step in the process of having the course become accredited so filling out a survey for the accreditation board will be greatly appreciated.

 

 

Yin Yoga Class & Community Acupuncture

Class size is limited to 10 people in order to ensure lots of personal attention from the instructors. Your investment is $50/person. 

According to Chinese medicine theory, each season is associated with specific organs. In order to maintain optimal health, it is advised to take extra care to balance these organs at the start of their season. Seasonally specific yin yoga sequences & acupuncture are excellent methods to support you during this time, in addition to other types of self-care (seasonal foods & acupressure).

Join Stacey Kent (licensed acupuncturist and certified yoga instructor) and Anne Reilly (licensed massage therapist and certified yoga instructor) for this seasonal balancing combination yin yoga class and community acupuncture session. We'll introduce you to yin yoga, Chinese medicine, and Five Element Theories as they relate to our current season - winter focuses on the kidney and bladder channels. We'll lead you through a yin yoga class to open and balance these channels. You'll receive a seasonal acupuncture tune-up treatment while you're resting following your yoga session.

This class is excellent for preventative stress reduction and immune boosting, or for those with muscular stiffness or discomfort of the lower body and back (the areas served by the kidney and bladder channels)

You'll leave this 2-hour class feeling relaxed and balanced, ready for a wonderful winter season. We'll also send you home with guidance about how you can continue to support your body, mind, and energy system during this season with yoga, acupressure, and your food choices.
